Athora is an international organisation that publishes thousands of product descriptions and campaign texts across multiple markets. Local advertising regulations and consumer protection legislation vary by country — and manually reviewing all that content for legal compliance is complex, time-consuming and costly.

The risk of manual legal review

Manually checking marketing content for legal compliance is an inherently scaling problem. As the volume of content grows — more products, more markets, more campaigns — the review burden grows exponentially. Manual reviews slow time-to-market, increase costs and create risk when non-compliant claims go unnoticed.

For Athora, operating in multiple European markets each with its own regulatory framework, this was a structural challenge.

An automated compliance workflow

Together with Athora we implemented an AI-driven legal compliance workflow that automatically scans and validates text content before it is published. The system analyses claims, disclaimers and promotional material against pre-defined legal frameworks and market-specific regulations.

The tool:

  • Flags high-risk language in real time — before publication, not after
  • Signals missing disclosures that are legally required per market
  • Identifies non-compliant phrasing based on local consumer protection law
  • Integrates into the publication process: content that is not compliant does not go live
